In fact, I always keep a list of companies I need to change my address with after a move to update my address, including credit cards.

I have used this USPS service each time I have moved or wanted my mail forwarded, and not once has it ever triggered an automatic address change with a company. I'm annoyed that this happened automatically. I certainly don't want it to show on my credit reports that I moved to an address that I did not move to (since CC companies forward info to them). I just got an email from one of my credit card companies (Gap Inc Visa Signature) that they 'received an address change and updated my information.' I had to immediately call them and explain I'm not actually moving to that address and to change it back to what it was. Then, once I move, I would manually change my address with credit card companies etc. For now, I started forwarding my mail to my parent's house (they live in town).

I plan on moving to another apartment sooner than later, but I don't know exactly where yet.
